Active Beam Pointing Stabilization
BriteLight Lasers
For applications that need a high degree of beam pointing stability and where waiting for the laser to reach thermal equilibrium, typically 20 minutes, is impractical, JMAR offers an active beam stabilization package as an upgrade to the BriteLight.
The package consists of a quadrant detector, an x-y motor driven mirror mount, and the necessary feedback electronics.
The graphs below show the behavior with and without the active beam stabilization package when subjected to a thermal transient (pink line).
Error signal (proportional to beam deviation from center position) for horizontal and vertical beam deviation in the case of no active beam stabilization.
