UV DIAL Laser

JMAR’s UV laser system has been uniquely designed to access the 290-300 nm range required for Ozone LIDAR measurements and evaluation of pollution from the ground to the atmospheric boundary layer.

Historically, accessing the UV band needed for Ozone DIAL has been mainly achieved through frequency doubling liquid dye lasers or Raman shifting in high pressure hydrogen. Tunable OPO systems have existed for years, but are large, complex, inefficient, and typically low rep-rate. At the heart of the JMAR UV laser system is our new, compact DPSS Nd:YAG laser that was specifically developed to pump the nonlinear optical conversion stages. * 8W, line narrowed pump laser is available separately as well.

This product delivers a combined 200 mW of UV power at 250 HZ (125 Hz DIAL when switched). Despite making approximately 1 mJ of UV at each wavelength, the overall system uses less than 7A of standard 110 VAC power including the chiller and weighs less than 100 lbs. Its rugged design opens it up to several possible field applications, and the overall approach is readily scalable in energy and rep-rate.
